Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most accurate methods of diagnostic imaging available today. MRI utilizes a strong magnetic field, radio frequency waves and a computer to create detailed images of internal bodily structures without the use of ionized radiation (x-rays). The image is then printed on a special film and is reviewed by a radiologist. MRI enables physicians to view the human body from any angle with great clarity and without the use of ionized radiation (x-rays) or invasive procedures and can assist physicians in detecting and diagnosing diseases or other abnormalities in very early stages.
For some MRI procedures a contrast media or agent, commonly referred to as "dye," is sometimes given intravenously during certain scans to provide the physicians with additional information.
As with all services provided at our center, it is our goal to ensure a pleasant and safe experience for our patient and to provide quick and accurate diagnostic information to our referring physicians to assist them in the treating their patients.
